Troop 18 Travels to Killington Vermon 

 Scouts of PAL’s Troop 18 traveled to Killington Vermont for their 1st Annual Ski Weekend.  They enjoyed a picture perfect sunny day on Saturday and awoke to 8 inches of fresh snow on Sunday.  “It doesn’t get any better than this!”  was the quote of the weekend from Acting SPL Bobby Gross.

       

 

PAL’s Troop 18 Enjoys a Holiday Camping Trip

Scouts of PAL’s new Troop 18 traveled to Camp Winnebago in Hibernia NJ for their 1st Annual Holiday Campout.  They decorated their cabin in preparation for the festivities that included sled building, a patrol cooking competition and group games.  All had a great time!

 Troop 18 Completes the Philadelphia Freedom Trail Hike

Scouts of PAL’s new Troop 18 traveled to Philadelphia to hike the five mile Freedom Trial.  American history came alive to the scouts as they hiked the trial and visiting many historical sites instrumental in the founding of our country. Highlights included visiting the Liberty Bell and touring Independence Hall where our constitution was signed. All scouts attending completed the hike and earned the Freedom Trail Medal.  Many scouts were also able to complete requirements for the Citizenship in the Nation Merit Badge.




Deep Sea Fishing Trip

Troop 18 recently had a great day of deep sea fishing on the Miss Belmar.  They spent the day catching at least 18 blue fish followed by an afternoon and night of camping in Allaire State park.  While at camp Senior scouts reviewed the Totin’ Chip requirements with scouts in need of that requirement.  Everyone enjoyed a fresh fish dinner and great camp fire.

Troop 18 Creates the Fred Bauer site 

at Camp Turrell 

The scouts of Troop 18 created a new camp site next to Site F  in memory of Fred Bauer during week three of the camping season.   They worked together to erect a 20 foot flag pole, bulletin board kiosk, stone benches and fire ring.  They also raked out tent sites.  A  sign for the site was presented to Camp Director Anthony Chirdo at the closing camp fire.In addition to this substantial service project Troop 18 earned the Baden Powell award by participating in many of the camp activities. We also won the Iron Man competition and came in first in the Water Carnival.  A great time was had by all!
